Dealer Mobility Wheelchair - Steps 1 > 7

STEP 1:

Image

Place the valve at about the 3 o’clock position or the 9 o’clock position. THIS IS IMPORTANT because you will be installing approximately 200ml into the tyre or tube and there isn’t much space! You will need to lift the chair slightly and support it so that the bottom of the tyre is not squashed flat, this will allow more space for the liquid.

Use the special valve key provided to remove the valve from the tyre, be careful to keep it safe! The tyre will deflate.

STEP 2:

Image

Attach the Applicator Hose to the valve stem (a small chrome tab at the end of the brass tube needs to be depressed to allow it to lock onto the valve stem).

Ensure that the valve “lock” – indicated in the picture above – is moved from the “closed” position to the “open” position.

STEP 3:

Image

Make sure the pump is pulled out fully.

You are now ready to install the ShieldWell product. All rear Wheelchair tyres  require 215ml of ShieldWell product.  (The DIY product states that each tyre requires 250ml, this is to allow for spillage and errors, these errors should not occur with installations using the professional pump.)

The pump stem has engraved markings on it. One full stroke of the pump provides approximately 90ml of product. In order to install 215ml, you will need to pull the pump out fully and fully discharge it twice and then fully extend the pump and discharge  to the bottom (lowest) mark. This will deliver a total of approximately 215ml.

STEP 4:

Image

Ensure the valve “lock” is returned to the “closed” position as indicated in the picture above.

Remove the Applicator Hose.

STEP 5:

Replace the valve with the tool provided.

Remove any spilled liquid with a little water.

Re-inflate the tyre to the correct pressure.

STEP 6:

Image

Clip the Applicator Hose back onto the valve on the front of the 20 litre container.

Open the valve “lock”

Push the pump down to the bottom to discharge the pump.

Close the valve “lock”

This will ensure that you are ready to correctly measure the next amount for the next tyre.

Repeat all the steps until all of the tyres are puncture protected.

STEP 7:

When you have completed the installation, clip the Applicator Hose onto the valve on the front of the 20 litre container, open the valve “lock” and discharge any unused liquid into the container.

Close the valve “lock” and leave the Applicator Hose in this position to keep it out of the way. If you do decide to leave the Applicator Hose off of the container valve, then please ensure that the valve cover is put back onto the valve stem. (This will prevent product over exposure to the air).
