Recently Wightlink Ferries called in ShieldWell to discuss their need to resolve a trip hazard problem that they were experiencing on board their ships.

We sent a representative down to see them whilst one of the ships was in dry dock in Portsmouth. It appeared that the problem was the main entry doors into the indoor deck area. As you can see from the picture there is a "lip" all round the entry door, this is to allow the doors to "seal" shut as in bulk head doors.

So, the issue was that this "lip" was causing a potential "trip hazard" for their customers. The operators of Wightlink wanted a solution to the problem that would be robust and would survive the sea water environment. ShieldWell recommended the "Neat Edge" range of ramps as they would be tough, long lasting and could be made to fit the specific doors. Wightlink bought a couple of ramps to try. They were very happy with the results and have since purchased many more ramps to satisfy their needs.

SheildWell recently re-visited Wightlink to see how they were getting on, here are some pictures to show the completed installations.

The owners of Wightlink are now looking at additional ramps for other applications.
